Today we head to a hip little town called Chattanooga in Tennessee to follow in the footsteps of Jackie Kennedy Onassis who back in the day made the town famous for thrift shops, and it still remains so today thanks to her.
It wasn't always cool or acceptable to shop in thrift shops. It was in the early 70's there were only a few, and going to shop in one often meant you couldn't afford to shop in a retail store. Then came the summer of 1974 when word got out that Jackie Kennedy Onnasis was selling her unwanted clothes to a thrift store here. It seems that Jackies super-rich husband put her on a strict clothing allowance of $25,000 a month! Poor girl I mean can you imagine? That's only 1 Hermes bag a month. Anyway she converted this to cash by buying super expensive clothes and then selling them to a vintage/thrift consignment store.
Word leaked out, so it was now cool for girls to shop thrift I mean if it's good enough for Jackie....
So girls here are my finds from my trip here which will soon be available to shop for at Paris Texas Vintage.
