Street style North Carolina, people watching, looking at all these cool and individual characters leads me to ask why they choose their style? And what makes them comfortable in their choices? Well my conclusion is it takes time to find our own personal style by experimenting which of course included sometimes getting it very wrong, but eventually feeling comfortable in our chosen personality.
Now in my opinion it's really fine while figuring out your own personal style to steal from the stars of the silver screen. Film characters are the best source of inspiration, but dont steal the whole look of a particular character or you may look like you just fell into a fancy dress box. Rather, try to choose a few key items to incorporate into your wardrobe, the key is to be subtle and choose your character well. Think about your own style and shape, also age, these are all important factors if you want to pull off your look with dignity. Don't in other words choose Lolita as your character in hotpots, heart shape glasses and crop top if you think people will throw stuff at you and point and stare, this look is definitely age dependant, however Liv Tyler, In the film Empire Records, wearing tartan kilt, mohair jumper, and Dr Martens truly fucking rocks for me! It's such a great look that most of us 35 and under can pull off. I just love how this look is childish but also very alluring. This is my all time fav look and I'm willing to keep paying tribute to it, at least for the time being....
